Privacy and texting
Last updated October 23, 2026
Red Door Local Kitchens cooks weekly meals in Vernon, British Columbia, in the kitchen at Hot Spot on 6. This page explains what we collect when you become a founding member or start a group, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We follow British Columbia’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL).
What we collect
- Your name, mobile number and, if you give it, your email.
- Who’s eating in your household (first names and portion sizes), how many meals you’d like, and your meal format.
- Your guardrails and anything you tell us about allergies or foods to avoid, so the kitchen can plan and label your meals.
- How you’d like your meals: pickup, a group drop-off, or home delivery. For home delivery we collect your area, address and delivery instructions.
- If you add someone to keep posted, their name and mobile number. Please only add someone who has agreed to hear from us.
- For groups: the group name, the coordinator’s name and mobile number, and the drop-off address.
- A record of your texting consent: the wording you agreed to and when.
- How you found us (for example, the website or link you came from). Your browser also saves one small setting so a first-time tip isn’t shown twice. We don’t use advertising trackers on this site.
How we use it
- To plan, cook, label, pack and deliver your meals.
- To text you about your founding membership, weekly menus, orders, pickups and deliveries.
- To contact your group coordinator about group deliveries.
We do not sell your information, and we don’t share it with anyone for their own marketing.
Allergies and health information
Allergy and diet details are used only to plan and label your meals, and are seen only by the people who cook and pack them. Delivery drivers see only your name, address and delivery instructions. Our kitchen is not allergen-free. Guardrails are preferences, not guarantees, so please always check the label on every meal.
Text messages
- We only text you if you tick the box agreeing to it. If you add someone to keep posted, we only text them about your meals (never menus or offers), and we stop if they reply STOP.
- Texts are about your membership, menus, orders, pickups and deliveries. Message and data rates from your carrier may apply.
- Reply STOP to any text, or email us, and we’ll stop texting you. We’ll confirm once, and that’s it.
- Every text says it’s from Red Door. Our assistant may help send texts and will always say it’s an AI assistant.
Who can see your information
The two Red Door partners and the kitchen staff at Hot Spot on 6 who prepare and hand over meals. We use a few service providers to run the website and send texts: Cloudflare (website hosting and data storage) and Quo, formerly OpenPhone (text messages). Payments are not taken yet. When they are, card payments will be handled by Square, and we will never see or store your card number. Some of these providers store data on servers outside Canada, including in the United States, where it may be accessible under the laws there.
How long we keep it
We keep your information while you’re a member. If you ask us to remove you, or you haven’t ordered for two years, we delete it, except anything the law requires us to keep (such as tax records once payments begin).
Your choices
You can ask to see, correct or delete your information, or withdraw your consent to texts, at any time. Email hello@reddoorkitchens.ca and we’ll take care of it within 30 days.
